This category includes devices capable of stopping an explosion triggered outside the reservoir.
To prevent the explosion from trapping inside the tank through openings made up of valves or free vent valves, they must be protected with a flame arrester of this type.
The limits of use for this category of flame arresters are laid down in EN ISO 16852-2016.
